Tips for Choosing your Shoes

Buying a good pair of shoes is like making a long-term investment. A pair of good quality shoes will last for years, if you maintain them well. Most shoes stores stock a range of women’s shoes, men’s shoes and kid’s shoes. Selecting the right shoes however, requires some attention to detail. When investing in shoes, keep these points in mind.

* Size: Buy shoes of the correct size. If the shoes are oversized or undersized, they neither look good nor provide protection and comfort. Undersized shoes will crumple your feet and lose its shape in a few months, while an oversized one can make you look out of sync.
* Material: Shoes are available in a range of materials ranging from leather to synthetic. The material you choose will mostly depend on the occasion you are buying the shoes for. If you are buying shoes for formal or office wear, nothing beats the classy looks of leather. For comfort and sports wear, certain synthetic materials or canvas are the most comfortable.
* Color: Ensure to select the right color for your shoes. For formal men's shoes, nothing beats black. It goes with almost any color apparel. If you are selecting brown or lighter colors, ensure that you buy a style that goes with your apparel and suits your personality. In women’s shoes, the colors available are plenty. However, if buying for formal or office wear, stick to the traditional black, brown or beige. For socials or parties, buy colors that match your dress and moods.
* Style: Shoes come in a variety of styles and styles keep changing everyday. Depending on the shape of your feet select a style that will add elegance to your feet. For example, women with long shapely toe and toenails can go for open-toed shoes.
* Sole: Sole is a very important part of the shoe. Molded soles last longer than pasted soles. Also for sportswear, select soles that curve slightly rather than those which remain stiff, since they take the shape of the feet and provide comfort.
* Brand: If you have a band loyalty, you can stick to your specific brand. But, ensure that you also buy shoe care products from the same shoe stores, so that you get the right product for the branded shoe material and color. Leather shoes especially, need a good care regimen and you get the best shoe care products for a particular brand of shoes from the same shoes stores.

Choosing the right shoe can sometimes be time consuming. But, it is well worth your time and effort, since your shoes form an integral part of who you are!
